B-school concept for PGDM in Delhi-NCR

The word B-school stands for Business School and the concept of B-School has come from college and institutes that offer business degrees and professional diploma. There are multiple number of B schools at national and international level like the first one was Harvard Business School and slowly after that many more joined from all across the globe like USA, Japan, Australia. Management education in India began after our constitution was formulated in the 1950s.

The foundation was formed by Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, whose vision was to develop a multi-talented workforce to manage the fast paced industrialization.

Initially, short-term programs were started to impart management training. Then, full-fledged programs began being offered. The Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, Kolkata and XLRI, Jamshedpur were the pioneers. In 1955, the University of Delhi was the first among universities to start a three-year, part-time PG Diploma program for working professionals. Under the guidance of US Professor Robbins, India launched IIM-Calcutta and IIM – Ahmedabad in 1961.

Subsequently seeing the huge demand of college and growing population, the private B schools joined the race and were able to provide quality education to the masses at large which was not possible by the top – initial institutes

These B-Schools provide a platform for students to develop a strong theoretical base and industry exposure and making the students’ corporate ready.
